Your Family

Every family is different. There isn’t one right way for a family to act, but your family does have obligations to you until you’re 18. Your parents or guardians need to provide you with a safe place to live, food to eat, and access to a high school education.

If you feel unsafe in your home, talk to an adult that you trust.

Is It Normal?

It can be hard to know if your home life is normal, especially if you don't have anything to compare it to. There are some things that are never okay, like violence directed at you or another member of your family. Check in with yourself about how you feel around your family, and get resources to help you here.

Talking to your parents

It can be tough to talk to your parents, especially if you need to tell them something difficult. It can be helpful to figure out what you want to say and what you’re hoping to get out of the conversation before you begin.
